These amazing pigs swim every day in the crystal clear waters of the Bahamas - on their own tiny island where they live in luxury.

Their exploits have been captured on camera by photographer and ocean guide, Jim Abernethy, 52, from Florida, who first stumbled across the feral creatures a couple of years ago.

'They are surprisingly strong swimmers. Even the younger piglets are totally at home in the water.
'They're even happy to swim alongside people.'

However, the sailors never returned and now all the lucky porkers have to worry about is where their next meal is coming from.
The clever pigs have worked out that the crews of passing yachts regularly dump excess food into the sea.

The hungry pigs eagerly plunge into the waves when they see a yacht and will swim a few hundred feet up to the vessel in the hope of a free meal.
The pigs are so successful in their enterprise that they are now living the dream by raising their family of eight on a tropical island in the Caribbean with nothing to do but eat, sleep and swim.
In 2009 underwater photographer Eric Cheng stumbled across the unusual residents along with captain Mr Abernethy and took these images during a diving expedition.

'We were in the southern Bahamas to photograph oceanic white-tip sharks,' said the then-33-year-old.

'Our captain, Jim Abernethy, heard there were pigs on Big Major so we decided to go and check it out.
'Upon approaching the white sandy beach, it is easy to spot the pigs - both pink and dark brown - lying in the sand.'

Mr Cheng added: 'Because locals bring food, the pigs will run into the water and actually swim out to the oncoming boats, as if to greet them individually. It is strange enough to see pigs laying around on tropical beaches of white sand, but to see them then charge into the water to greet oncoming boats is just bizarre.'

Spending several hours photographing and playing with the pigs, Mr Cheng and his team even managed to join them for a swim.

'Nadine Umbscheiden, one of the photographers was so at ease with them that she managed to swim with them,' said Mr Cheng.

'We dubbed her the "pig whisperer" because she was so good at getting the pigs to swim to our cameras!'

Suleman, 35, hit the headlines when she gave birth to eight children in one pregnancy in 2009.
She already had six children but decided to go ahead with the multiple births, recently admitting to Oprah Winfrey that she was a 'baby addict'.

'I wanted to show you my wounds because I'm not ashamed that my body is mutilated like this,' she said.

Mrs Gorrostieta, a mother-of-three, was first attacked on October 15, 2009 when she was driving through the town of El Limone with her husband.
A group of armed men ambushed their vehicle, spraying the car with bullets.
The mayor was left terribly injured while her husband José Sánchez Chávez was killed.
Despite suffering such a devastating loss and battling back to fitness, Mrs Gorrostieta was determined not to be defeated.
She returned to work and had made remarkable progress.
But in January last year, she was once again ambushed by armed and masked men.
This time her injuries were even worse. She had to have a colostomy bag and suffers constant pain.
'Every day I fight and battle in my mind to erase the memories of the terrible things I lived through,' she said.

In December, it emerged that female police chief Hermila Garcia, had become just the latest victim of the bloody war.

The high dive into a fish tank: Amateur photographer spends a YEAR lining up perfect picture of kingfisher catching lunch

Amateur photographer Noel Marry got the perfect photo of a kingfisher catching a fish - after spending a YEAR setting it up.
Noel, a father-of-three, was close to giving up on his dream of picturing the brightly-coloured bird diving underwater for a minnow.
But, just as he was about to end his year long quest, his efforts were rewarded with stunning pictures of the fish 'plunge-diving' to catch its lunch.

Noel, 53, got the idea after watching a BBC documentary about the notoriously shy bird.
He built a fish tank in which he would place a minnow before almost completely submerging the tank into a river.

He built a perch above the tank and over the months the kingfisher got used to fishing its lunch out of the tank.
Gradually, Noel was able to take it further out of the water so that he could get a clearer shot.
And eventually he was able to snap the bird with the tank completely out of the river as it dived headlong into the water to catch its prey.

Painstaking: Noel Marry spent a year perfecting his plan for the photo and it finally paid off

Noel built a hide for himself metres away from the tank so he didn't scare off the bird and operated the camera by a remote control.

The photos were taken at Ireland's Broadmeadow river, in Swords, County Dublin.
Noel said: 'I was absolutely delighted when I got the set of photos. I would sit and wait for hours with my camera and sometimes the bird wouldn't even show up.
'I was starting to get downhearted and just when I thought about packing it all in it just happened. It was really special.'

Noel, from Drogheda, in County Louth, added: 'I use a remote operated camera so I didn't even know whether I had the photos until I checked.
'I was nervous because the week before I thought I got the snaps but my camera had jammed after it took the first frame.
'The camera takes 10 shots a second and it has to be quick because a kingfisher takes one or two seconds from starting its dive to catching the fish and heading back to its branch. When I saw the result I was over the moon.'
